Chip Walter, former CNN bureau chief, science writer, and Pittsburgh resident visits Writers LIVE with his new book, Last Ape Standing: The Seven-Million-Year Story of How and Why We Survived, a "provocative, insightful, and engaging" scientific look at how humans came to exist. Walter has had a storied career as a scientific journalist, screenwriter, and documentary filmmaker. His work has been published in the Boston Globe, the Economist, and Scientific American.
"Walter takes an antic delight in the triumphal adaptations and terrifying near misses of human evolution... Last Ape Standing makes for a lively journey." - New York Times Book Review
A book signing follows the program, with copies of Last Ape Standing available for sale from the Mystery Lovers Bookshop.
Kirkus Reviews says Last Ape Standing is an "engrossing, up-to-date account of human evolution."
