Award-winning novelist Colson Whitehead at the next Drue Heinz Lectures

MacArthur Fellow Colson Whitehead will be the next featured author at The Drue Heinz Lectures on Monday, February 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland

Whitehead has been called one of the leading writers of serious fiction of his generation. Booklist compared his work to that of George Orwell, Ralph Ellison, Kurt Vonnegut, and Thomas Pynchon, yet also found it “resoundingly original.”  His multi-layered novel John Henry Days was short-listed for the National Book Critics Circle Award as well as the Pulitzer Prize, and has been called “a feast for famished readers” by Newsweek. His latest, Apex Hides the Hurt, is a satirical look at American identity politics, racial identity, and corporate values.
